Whether a company holiday party, rehearsal dinner or a baby shower, we’ll happily handle all the desserts for your event or hook you up with something to complement the rest of your menu.
Our custom bakery menu includes specialty celebration cakes, cupcakes, muffins, scones, tarts, cookies, bars and more—balancing sophisticated seasonal flavors with the nostalgia of our favorite childhood treats.
At Hark Bakery, our entire operation is gluten-free and vegan (egg-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, plant-based). We’re also able to accommodate tree nut-free, peanut-free, coconut-free and soy-free requests.
Everything is made-to-order for delivery within the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area or pickup (by appointment only) at our Plymouth, MN kitchen.

If you like what you see on the Custom Bakery Menu, proceed to step 2.

To get in touch, fill out our custom bakery inquiry form at least one week in advance of your event.
If you already know exactly what you'd like to order after looking at the menu, include all the details in your inquiry so we can turn around an order proposal ASAP.
If you're not set yet, we're happy to help curate the menu for your event based on your vision, guest count and budget.
Note: This inquiry form is not the same as placing an order. Orders are only confirmed after payment.

We'll follow up via email with your custom order proposal and pricing, along with a link to pay for your order.
If we have questions or if your event requires more collaborative planning, we will work with you before building your proposal.

Once payment is received, your order is officially confirmed and we start baking!

On the day of your event, we'll make sure that your order is ready for pickup at our Plymouth kitchen or delivered on-site at your designated time.

We do not have a storefront, but we do offer dessert pickups and cake tastings (by appointment only) at our commercial kitchen in Plymouth, MN. You can also find a selection of our gluten-free, vegan cookies at The Wedge Co-op in Uptown and Linden Hills!
In case you find anything confusing on Google: We were formerly located downtown as Hark Cafe. Our business model evolved and we moved to our commercial kitchen space in Plymouth in August 2024.

Hark! Cafe has evolved into Hark Bakery—same owners, same ethos of bringing great gluten-free and vegan options to the Twin Cities. We're just now focused on our baking, weddings and custom orders.
The Hark! Cafe storefront, coffee shop and our formerly full-service restaurant downtown are no longer open as of May 2024. We now operate out of MSP Kitchenery, a shared commercial kitchen space in Plymouth, MN.

We are open by appointment-only for order pick ups. We do not have anything available to purchase by same-day request, or for walk-in customers.
Our custom bakery and online ordering pickup hours are 12-4pm Wednesdays-Fridays and 10am-2pm Saturdays. When you order, you'll select or be given a specific pickup time to ensure that someone will be on-site and ready for you. -
We have a $150 minimum for custom orders (before tax and delivery fees).

Custom bakery orders must be placed at least one week in advance. If we are able to accept an order request with less than a week's notice, a rush fee of $25 may apply.
We are a highly specialized business offering unique products, and we make everything to order!
For larger events, we recommend starting the process as early as 1-2 months in advance, but don't be shy if you've procrastinated a little bit. We always try to accommodate if we can! -

All items are 100% vegan, gluten-free and celiac-safe. Because of this, they are also dairy-free, egg-free and wheat-free.
Please let us know if you have a specific ingredient sensitivity or request. We can guide you toward our favorite soy-free, peanut-free and tree nut-free recipes.
At this time, we are not able to accommodate corn allergies.
Our cake recipes all contain coconut, but we have other coconut-free options.
As of August 2024, we produce in a commercial facility where common allergens are present. We take immense precautions to ensure everything is sanitized and safely handled to reduce risk of cross-contamination, but the risk is never zero. Items may contain the following allergens: coconut, soy, tree nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts) and oats.

Yes, we offer delivery within the Twin Cities metro. We may be able to deliver to more distant destinations upon request.
Our delivery fee starts at $10 + $1.50 per mile round trip.

We place a high value on the quality and flavor of our ingredients, which is why we never purchase produce out of season. Through local farmers and Co-op Partners Warehouse (CPW), we procure the best ingredients at the peak of their growing season to use fresh or preserve to use throughout the year.
Even with our signature pressed floral cake decor, we work with trusted local florists, shops and growers to source the most vibrant botanicals for our desserts. (We can also apply flowers and greenery provided by your wedding florist to your cake on-site.)

Sourcing locally: We have long-standing relationships with local farmers, from whom we source all of our apples, berries, stone fruits, melons, rhubarb, florals, herbs and squash. For other local items like maple syrup, as well as oils, nuts and dried fruit, we use Co-op Partners Warehouse (CPW) as our supplier. We buy our hazelnuts from a Midwest-based growers collective.
Sourcing seasonally: We place a high value on the quality and flavor of our ingredients, which is why we never purchase produce out of season. Through local farmers and CPW, we procure the best ingredients at the peak of their growing season to use fresh. To limit our environmental impact we order in large quantities once and then use these seasonal ingredients year-round by preserving them through freezing, dehydrating, salt-curing, and making jams and jellies.
Fair Trade: All of our chocolate and coffee products are Fair Trade certified.
Organic ingredients: We use only organic sugar, coffee and chocolate. We recognize that the USDA-certified “organic” label is difficult to come by for many small farmers who use organic practices, so we prioritize buying local non-certified produce over imported organic alternatives.
Repurposed materials: We utilize reusable baking tools and materials, compostable materials where available and limit single-use plastics.

Many of our desserts are available in different sizes (for example: mini panna cotta cups, full-size seasonal fruit crumble to serve family-style, bite-size tarts for a dessert table) and can be adjusted to suit your needs.
